Announcement of the
Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce on
Further Enhancing Facilitation in the Application for Digital Trademark
Certificates
In order to implement the trademark reform measures and meet the needs of
trademark agencies for the use of digital certificates, the rules for issuance
of digital trademark certificates are hereby amended as follows:
I. Simplifying the procedures for application for digital trademark
certificates
Paper application materials will be cancelled. As of February 1, an agency that
has applied for a digital certificate is not required to submit paper
materials, and after it files an application for user registration in the
online application system, a digital trademark certificate will be issued
immediately after its application passes the examination.
The applications for certificates will be combined with the recordation of new
agencies. As of March 1, a new trademark agency may check the box of production
and issuance of a digital certificate while filing an online application for
recordation and is not required to separately file an application for user
registration.
II. Shortening the production period of digital trademark certificates
As of March 1, digital certificates that are newly applied for will be produced
and issued on a weekly basis, with a production period of one to two months.
III. Increasing the issuance of digital trademark certificates
As of March 1, a trademark agency with more than 50 applications per day may
apply for the second digital trademark certificate, and a trademark agency with
more than 100 applications per day may apply for the third digital trademark
certificate; each trademark agency may apply for three digital trademark
certificates at maximum. The procedures for application for digital trademark
certificates are the same as 5.1 Procedures for Trademark Agencies'
Applications for Digital Certificates in the Guide for the Online Application
for Trademarks.
